I’m Farah, an artist and designer based in Scotland. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art; I have worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years and in between freelance design and textiles jobs I enjoy painting and illustration projects under Saffari Studio. 

Having Persian heritage has definitely shaped my love of pattern and colour as well as my merging of cultures- being half Irish too with a lovely granny who was a dressmaker, has been a constant source of inspiration. My favourite artists sit in surrealism; Jean Cocteau, Picasso, Marcel Vertès, Raoul Dufy, Dali. I’m forever trying to develop a style that sits in that world but also just a celebration of pattern. I like to think of my still life paintings in a dream like quality and flowers feature heavily as I love the way they can look like they’re sometimes dancing.

I also make my illustrated hand built ceramics for the home and hoping to branch out into other wares soon.
